How To Build An Effective Offsite: The Event Curve

It’s extraordinary that makes us sit up, take note, engage and take interest. There’s little noteworthy and memorable in the average and everyday. Likewise, attending the same old event isn’t going to do the job.

When we work with our clients on building an event the key words for us are imagination, attention to detail and surprises.

We’re looking to fire people up, get everyone excited about future possibilities: A real buy-in to the proceedings and a strong sense of purpose.

To do this we use our event curve:

There’s a pre-event phase with planning and build-up where the objectives/outcomes are defined. Wow, energy, pride, sense of purpose, ambition and performance are great outcomes to shoot for.

Then during the event there’s lots going on from immersive team building and hands-on experiences to lots of creative surprises. Everyone is contributing, engaged and excited about being here. That’s when the best work can happen.

After the event the next challenge begins. Following up and sustaining all that good stuff is an initiative in itself…..

And our challenge is to keep raising the bar- as today’s extraordinary will inevitably be tomorrow’s average.
